MARIANA ARTEAGA

Originaria de la Ciudad de México, Mariana Arteaga directora artística, coreógrafa, curadora y performer.  Sus inquietudes como artista y curadora se orientan hacia la ampliación de las prácticas coreográficas, la danza desde su poder político y el cuerpo-archivo. Como performer ha trabajado con coreógrafos como Xavier Le Roy, Andrea Chirinos, Tamara Cubas, Galia Eibenschutz y Érika Méndez –entre otros.                                                               Su trabajo curatorial y artístico se ha expandido internacionalmente a países como Japón, Alemania, Estados Unidos, Brasil, Colombia e Indonesia, por nombrar algunos. Ha sido invitada como ponente al Performing Arts Meeting en Yokohama, Japón, el Festival Cena Contemporânea en Brasilia a los Encuentros del Cena y en la Tanzplattform de Alemania. Mariana es la primera latinoamericana en ganar la Visiting Fellows Program Grant otorgada por la prestigiosa Saison Foundation en la categoría Dirección artística-curaduría, para fomentar el intercambio, difusión y colaboración en danza contemporánea entre México y Japón.                                                                                                    En los últimos años su obra creativa ha explorado procesos coreográficos colectivos en el espacio público, destacando piezas como Úumbal: coreografía nómada para habitantes, un proyecto piloto de coreografía colectiva inspirado y creado a partir del baile de varios habitantes de la Ciudad de México, que surge  de la necesidad de ejercitar nuevas formas posibles de encontrarse con otros a través de la danza y del deseo de experimentar diferentes formas de andar, reconocer y reapropiarse colectivamente del espacio público; Maravatío: Partitura coreográfica para el cuidado encuentro y juego en colectivo, una reflexión sobre la política colectiva del afecto, desencadenada por el terremoto de 2017 en la ciudad de México;  y Cuerpo de Baile, un proyecto que trazó la memoria bailadora de los habitantes de Guadalajara, y a partir de las historias tejidas a partir del baile, se revelan memorias geográficas, históricas, políticas y contextos familiares e íntimos, donde la danza se reafirma como vínculo, liberación, resistencia y archivo vivo.  Fuego en la pista es su más reciente proyecto colectivo bajo encargo del Centro de Cultura Digitaluna curaduría para incentivar la reunión colectiva en la transición de pandemia a endemia con  de una serie de bailes de diversos estilos diseminados globalmente a través de la cultura digital.                                                                                                         En fechas recientes formó parte del comité curatorial del Encuentro Nacional de danza 2023 y actualmente forma parte del Comité curatorial para los XXX aniversario del Museo Ex-Teresa.

Originally from Mexico City, Mariana Arteaga is artistic director, choreographer, curator and performer. Her concerns as an artist and curator are oriented towards the expansion of choreographic practices, dance from its political power and the body-archive. As a performer, he has worked with choreographers such as Xavier Le Roy, Andrea Chirinos, Tamara Cubas, Galia Eibenschutz and Érika Méndez –among others.                                                                                          Her curatorial and artistic work has expanded internationally to countries such as Japan, Germany, the United States, Brazil, Colombia, and Indonesia, to name a few. She has been invited as a speaker at the Performing Arts Meeting in Yokohama, Japan, the Cena Contemporânea Festival in Brasilia at the Encuentros del Cena and at the Tanzplattform in Germany. Mariana is the first Latin American to win the Visiting Fellows Program Grant awarded by the prestigious Saison Foundation in the category Artistic direction-curatorship, to promote exchange, dissemination and collaboration in contemporary dance between Mexico and Japan.                                                                                     In recent years her creative work has explored collective choreographic processes in the public space, highlighting pieces such as Úumbal: nomadic choreography for inhabitants, a pilot project of collective choreography inspired and created from the dance of various inhabitants of Mexico City, which It arises from the need to exercise new possible ways of meeting others through dance and the desire to experience different ways of walking, recognizing and collectively reappropriating the public space; Maravatío: Choreographic Score for Careful Collective Encounter and Play, a reflection on the collective politics of affection, triggered by the 2017 earthquake in Mexico City; and  Dance Corps , a project that traced the dancer memory of the inhabitants of Guadalajara, and from the stories woven from the dance, geographical, historical, political memories and family and intimate contexts are revealed, where dance is reaffirmed as a link , liberation, resistance and the living archive.                   Fuego en la pista is her most recent collective project commissioned by the Digital Culture Center, curated to encourage collective gathering in the transition from pandemic to endemic with a series of dances of diverse styles disseminated globally through digital culture. Recently she was part of the curatorial committee of the 2023 National Dance Meeting and is currently part of the Curatorial Committee for the XXX anniversary of the Ex-Teresa Museum
