¿Cuáles son los factores económicos, históricos, familiares y políticos que acompañan la decisión de bailar?

Retrospectiva, el proyecto del coreógrafo francés Xavier Le Roy en el Museo Jumex, exploró estas preguntas al emplear la idea de retrospectiva como modo de producción, proponiendo entrecruzar fragmentos de sus propias obras -creadas entre 1994 y 2014- con las historias de 15 performers habitantes de la CDMX.

Durante 3 semanas, los performers habitamos la Galería 3 a través de acciones, discursos, diálogos y movimientos; haciendo uso de los aparatos expositivos del museo con los del performance teatral.

“El cuerpo de cada performer puede pensarse como un archivo, un registro vivo, complejo y problemático, que carga con su versión de las coreografías de Le Roy, así como con el archivo de su propio cuerpo”, comenta la asistente curatorial para esta exposición, María Emilia Fernández.

Retrospectiva en su diálogo vivo con el público, provoca reflexiones sobre lo que nos hace ser quienes ahora somos. En esta visita al pasado, éste inevitablemente se actualiza. Podríamos pensar entonces que ésta, es una retrospectiva del presente.

Which are the economic, historical, family and political factors that accompany the decision to dance?

Retrospective, the project of the French choreographer Xavier Le Roy at the Jumex Museum, explored these questions by using the idea of retrospective as a mode of production, proposing to cross-link fragments of his own works -created between 1994 and 2014- with the stories of 15 performers. of Mexico city.

For 3 weeks, the performers inhabit the Gallery 3 through actions, speeches, dialogues and movements; making use of the exhibits of the museum with those of the theatrical performance.

“The body of each performer can be thought of as a file, a living record, complex and problematic, which carries his version of Le Roy’s choreographies, as well as the file of his own body,” says the curatorial assistant for this exhibition, María Emilia Fernández.

Retrospective in its live dialogue with the public, provokes reflections on what makes us who we are now. In this visit to the past, it inevitably gets updated. We could think then that this is a retrospective of the present.
