RESIDENCIA DE INVESTIGACIÓN SOBRE DANZA CONTEMPORÁNEA EN JAPÓN / Curadora

A finales del 2014, realicé una residencia artística como Directora artística/curadora en Japón gracias a la Saison Foundation, institución privada que apoya la producción y difusión de las artes escénicas japonesas.

Durante mi estancia entrevisté a coreógrafos, bailarines, directores de festivales y algunos representantes de instituciones para hacer un incipiente rastreo del contexto actual en el cual se desarrolla y percibe la danza contemporánea japonesa por parte de sus actores, para a partir de ahí, poder imaginar formas posibles de colaboración con la danza contemporánea mexicana.

Al pensar en cómo hacer posible la difusión de estas entrevistas, el contexto actual de la danza contemporánea en ese país e impulsar proyectos futuros entre artistas escénicos de México y Japón, pensé que un blog podría abrir/continuar el diálogo entre Japón, México e Iberoamérica,  es así como surgió IN_HA (abreviación de In Lak’ech – Hala Ken), donde se vacían más de 10 entrevistas realizadas.

A partir de esta residencia, mi reflexión en torno a cómo ejercitamos posibles curadurías en artes escénicas –mucho a tientas al ser en mi caso, por ejemplo, autodidactas- se enriqueció, al notar cómo las formas del diálogo y el conjunto de conversaciones, más que las obras, podían ir creando y/o fortaleciendo posibles líneas de exploración curatorial.

Como resultado de esta residencia, Hiroaki Umeda se presentó por primera vez en México en el 2015 en el Festival Un Desierto para la Danza en Sonora, Hermosillo y en el Teatro de las Artes en la CDMX; el performer Takao Kawaguchi realizó una residencia artística en el 2015 en Tijuana en colaboración con la compañía de danza contemporánea Péndulo Cero y presentó en el 2017 en México la pieza About Kazuo Ohno en el Festival Un Desierto para la Danza y el Festival Cuerpos en Revuelta en la CDMX. 

En el 2018, la coreógrafa y directora de la compañía Punctumun, Kaori Seki, realizará una residencia de creación en el CEPRODAC (Centro de Producción de Danza Contemporánea).

RESEARCH RESIDENCY ABOUT CONTEMPORARY DANCE IN JAPAN / Curator

At the end of 2014, I made an artistic residency as an artistic director / curator in Japan thanks to the Saison Foundation, a private institution that supports the production and dissemination of Japanese performing arts.

During my stay I interviewed choreographers, dancers, festival directors and some representatives of institutions to make an incipient tracking of the current context in which Japanese contemporary dance is developed and perceived by its actors, and from there, to be able to imagine possible forms of collaboration with contemporary Mexican dance.

When thinking about how to make possible the dissemination of these interviews, the current context of contemporary dance in that country and promote future projects between stage artists from Mexico and Japan, I thought that a blog could open / continue the dialogue between Japan, Mexico and Latin America , This is how IN_HA emerged (abbreviation of In Lak’ech – Hala Ken), where more than 10 interviews were made.

From this residence, my reflection on how we exercised possible curators in the performing arts -much to the point of being in my case, for example, self-taught- was enriched by noticing how the forms of dialogue and the set of conversations, more that the works could be creating and / or strengthening possible lines of curatorial exploration.

As a result of this residency, Hiroaki Umeda was presented for the first time in Mexico in 2015 at the Un Desierto para la Danza Festival in Sonora, Hermosillo and at the Teatro de las Artes at CDMX, the performer Takao Kawaguchi made an artistic residency at 2015 in Tijuana in collaboration with the contemporary dance company Pendulo Zero and presented in 2017 in Mexico the piece About Kazuo Ohno at the Festival Un Desierto para la Danza and the Cuerpos en Revuelta Festival at CDMX. In 2018, the choreographer and director of the Punctumun company, Kaori Seki, will hold a creative residency at the CEPRODAC (Contemporary Dance Production Center).
